Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data WiseHomeGuides collects, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
1. Data Controller

2. Data Collected
WiseHomeGuides collects a minimum of data:
- Browsing / audience measurement: pages viewed, visit duration, device type, traffic source, approximate country — via self-hosted Matomo in cookie-free, anonymous mode (IP address anonymised).
- Newsletter: email address and preferred language, only if you subscribe voluntarily.
- Contact: email address and the content of your message.
- Interactive tools: calculators and quizzes run in your browser; no input is transmitted unless you voluntarily request a report by email.
No sensitive data is collected and no advertising profiling is performed.
3. Legal Bases
- Anonymous audience measurement: legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f GDPR).
- Newsletter: consent (Art. 6.1.a GDPR).
- Answering your messages: legitimate interest / performance of your request (Art. 6.1.f and 6.1.b GDPR).
4. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability and objection. To exercise them, write to [email protected]. We reply within a maximum of 30 days.
5. Data Retention
- Audience statistics: 13 months maximum.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.
- Contact messages: as long as necessary to handle your request.
6. International Transfers
Our servers are hosted in Germany (Hetzner, Frankfurt). Some providers — in particular email delivery via Resend (United States) — may involve a transfer outside the EU/EEA, governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).
7. Analytics
Since June 2026 we use exclusively Matomo, self-hosted on our servers and configured cookie-free: no analytics cookie is set and IP addresses are anonymised. We also use Google Search Console (per-page data, no identifiable visitors) and the public Google Trends / YouTube APIs (aggregated, anonymous data). Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f GDPR).
8. Newsletter
If you subscribe, we collect your email address and preferred language solely to send you our guides. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6.1.a GDPR). Delivery via Resend (USA), governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). Every email contains an immediate unsubscribe link.
9. Social Media and Third-Party Channels
WiseHomeGuides distributes content on Pinterest and YouTube. These platforms have their own privacy policies. We do not collect any personal data through these channels.
10. Third-Party Services and Security
We use Cloudflare as our content delivery network (CDN) and security service. Cloudflare may process limited technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to provide its services, in accordance with its own privacy policy. The site is served entirely over HTTPS.
11. Accessibility
WiseHomeGuides is committed to digital accessibility under EN 301 549, targeting WCAG 2.1 AA. An accessibility panel is available at the bottom right (text-to-speech, high contrast, text zoom, etc.).
12. Complaints
If you believe your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: in France the CNIL (www.cnil.fr); in the UK the ICO (ico.org.uk); in Ireland the DPC (dataprotection.ie).
13. Changes
This policy may be updated. The last-updated date appears at the top of the page.
Minors: this site is not intended for children under 15 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Newsletter subscriber management is handled by listmonk, hosted on our own servers (Germany).
