Frequently asked questions

How do I find the power rating of my appliance?

The power rating in watts is usually printed on a label or plate on the appliance, often near the power cord or on the back. If you cannot find it, check the user manual or the manufacturer's website.

What if I use the appliance only part of the year?

Enter the average daily usage in hours. For seasonal appliances, calculate the total hours used per year and divide by 365 to get a daily average, then use that value in the simulator.

Does the result include taxes and fees?

The simulator uses the price per kWh that you enter. To get a more accurate estimate, include all taxes and fees in that price, as they appear on your electricity bill.
